We are Iowans who are concerned about the welfare of companion animals (pets). Our purpose is to gather accurate information about the commercial dog-breeders in Iowa and to share that information with the general public, state law enforcement agencies and our sister lobbying organization, Iowa Voters for Companion Animals.Iowa Friends of Companion Animals (IAFriends) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity. IAFriends is led by a board of directors made up of professionals in the areas of law, business, non-profit management and communications.
“To advance the humane and responsible treatment of companion animals through collaboration and public awareness.”
Our goal is to ensure the humane treatment of the tens of thousands of dogs in Iowa’s USDA-licensed commercial dog breeding facilities, also referred to as puppy mills. Iowa has the 2nd largest number of puppy mills in the nation with at least 230 facilities! Many house 200, 400, even more than 1000 adult breeding dogs!
